We also send out enormous quantities of rice. Historically, breakbulk cargo for rice was transported on regular cargo ships. One of the techniques used for the transportation of such cargo was the use of permanent hardwood dunnage with holes that were engineered to provide proper ventilation. Containerized goods is currently being used to carry bulk grains. Due to the rising need for food around the world, the majority of rice is currently exported in bagged form aboard conventional bulk ships.
